Early detection and intervention of psychosis

Our research mission is to better understand the neural mechanisms underlying emerging psychosis and to develop and test novel preventive interventions. The goal is to establish robust brain markers to predict adverse clinical outcomes such as transition to psychosis or social and occupational impairments and responses to preventive interventions in high-risk subjects of developing psychosis. To achieve this goal, we intend to develop novel methods to integrate aspects of brain structure, function and chemistry by combining computational modelling approaches with multimodal imaging techniques. The explicit linkage of human neuroimaging data with whole-brain computational modelling has shown great potential not only for a deeper understanding of the computational and biophysical mechanisms underlying healthy states, but also for the discovery of the causes of the breakdown in emerging psychosis.
